cannot download .xml file in IE for chrome browser
My computer is running Windows 7 OS. I'm using IE 11 to access a website to download a .xml file. There is no prompt for "open or save xxxx file". As a result, file could not be downloaded. Repeated this with Chrome and same result.
Web browsers can open and display XML files. If you want to download it, right click on the link and select 'Save As' or whatever that browser uses to Save a file instead of Open it.

These are good solutions. However, the XML file was not download to the downloads folder. I did check on this. I download other file extension types other than XML and it works. The open and save prompt appeared which allow me to select options. See attachment for the prompt.

I can't read that, it's too small. Next time, just post it as an image so it will show full size instead of as a PDF.
