I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

If you want to generate them, the best way is to use your own library. There are plenty of jQuery libraries on the web.

I wouldn't use any of them simply because I wouldn't want to rely such a small component on a third party provider that might fail and you have no control over it. It's an easily avoidable risk.

There are plenty of free tools that you can add to your application and generate the codes yourself.

qrcodejs is a good example for Javascript.
There are plenty of others for .Net, JAVA, NodeJS... pretty much whatever you have server-side.

Thank you for your answers, they gave a very different view of qrcode.
There is one thing I did not understand (your answer by courtesy), I experienced a number of plugins, and for the same URL, always gave me a different qrcode.
Would not they supposed to be all the same?
Why are they different?

Hi Pedro,
there are multiple factors that might interfere with the resulting QRCode output.

One of them is the data correction setting. Different levels will result in visually different QRCodes.

Another one is the encoding that might use different masks, also resulting in visually different QRCodes.

This Wikipedia page does a pretty good job explaining how QRCodes work. Read the whole thing if you want to deep dive into the thing :)
