Email in my ipad issue

Looking for assistance to correct an email problem. We have an ipad, two iphones and a PC with some of the same accounts on each.  Often after downloading and reading an email on the ipad or iphones, when we go back to look at it again, the message "not yet downloaded from the server" appears.
Has anyone experienced this AND identified a solution to the problem.  It only appears on the i-devices, not the PC.

It appears that this issue is affecting POP email accounts.

on the Apple devices:

Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > your email account > Advanced >Delete from server > Set to Never, under  INCOMING SETTINGS.

Should be good to go.
