I connect with Apache Directory Studio to the environment and I see only the top domain, contoso.local - I know there's 2 child domains becuase I see them in AD for sure. <br />

Active Directory (AD) is a Microsoft brand for identity-related capabilities. In the on-premises world, Windows Server AD provides a set of identity capabilities and services, and is hugely popular (88% of Fortune 1000 and 95% of enterprises use AD). Active Directory

NetWare is a computer network operating system developed by Novell, Inc. Novell Netware

Networking software modules are interfaced with a framework implemented on the machine's operating system that implements the networking functionality of the operating system.
