Sharepoint SQL database stop functioning

Hi,

I have SharePoint server 2010 installed on server 2008 R2.
The sharepoint 2010 is hosting our website and internal application.
Recently, the site will stop functioning. I have to restart SQL database in order to get the site working normally.
Any suggestion for troubleshooting?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

When SharePoint quits working, check performance factors on the SQL server. It is probably maxed out, and the restart lowers usage until it expands again a few days later. If you increase memory on the SQL server you may be able to avoid the situation.

Hope that helps...

Hi,
SneekCo`s comment is a good starter.

What version and edition of SQL Server are you using?

Have a look into the Windows event log as well as the SharePoint ULS log (normally located under C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\Logs) - there is a Open-Source Microsoft Tool named "ULS Viewer" available to have a better User Experience as the log files are huge:
