I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

i doubt org.jdesktop is part of the standard oracle java specification.

It looks like an external library to me. In which case you will need to pull it in through your dependency management system.

You can get swingx.jar from https://java.net/projects/swingx/downloads/directory/releases
Looks like the last update was a few years ago.

In Eclipse, add it to your project:
1. Copy or move the .jar file somewhere under your project folder
2. select Project / Properties
3. select Java Build Path
4. click Add Jars...

i added this SwingX 1.6.4 - maven support

There is nothing in that POM file about swingx. Are you sure that you added it to the correct POM or that you posted the correct POM here?

mccarlIT Business Systems Analyst / Software DeveloperCommented:
Since you are using Maven, that would be the easiest way to go. You would add a "dependency" like this...

<dependency>
	<groupId>org.swinglabs.swingx</groupId>
	<artifactId>swingx-autocomplete</artifactId>
	<version>1.6.4</version>
</dependency>

Open in new window

That should be enough going by you above comment, but if you end up using more part of the swingx libraries, change "swingx-autocomplete" ---> "swingx-core" in the above dependency.
