Exchange 2003 X400

Hello,

I am new to Exchange and am checking email addresses for some of our users as some people have been getting email destined for them sent to other users also.  I have found that the X400 address has other users names in there for given name (g) and surname (s).  I suspect this is the issue.  Exactly what should the given name (g) and the surname (s) be?  Should they match the first and last name of the user account?  I want to get this correct, so I need to know precisely what it should be when I edit it.

Thanks,
Mike

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You are correct. The GivenName and SurName should match what is on the mailbox. See the link below which outlines the complete format in detail. The link is referencing 2010 however the format is the same.

Hi,

Ideally the email address should match with the First name and Last name of the user account.

Thanks

So on the "General" tab of the user account, what is there for First name and Last name should match exactly in the X400 listing for Given name (g) and Surname (s)?  Just making sure.
