how can I locate the software and utilities for an HP Deskjet 2543 printer?

Hello and Good Afternoon Everyone,

I am wondering how I can locate my software for an HP Deskjet 2543 printer.  The reason I ask is because I recently installed a new black cartridge and wish to use the utilities to align it and occasionally determine the ink levels for both the black cartridge and color cartridge.  Just in case it is needed, the operating system on this laptop is Windows 10.

              Thank you

If you did a full software install for that printer on Windows 10 , you should be able to hit the start button to the bottom left then select ALL applications.  The HP suite should be in there.

Hi George,

HP does not have W10 drivers for that device. My recommendation is to try Version 32.2, updated 26-Jun-2015 — it says that support was added for Windows 8.1 on 8-Apr-2014:

Install the "Full Feature Software and Drivers" package, not just the drivers. Btw, my experience is that W8.1 drivers often work in W10, but not always. Also, this HP article about W10 support may help:

Good luck! Regards, Joe

Hello Everyone,

When I click on Start, click on All Apps, and scroll down, I only see HP Help and Support.  When I open it, I only see HP Support Assistant.  I do remember installing the software for it some time back, but, I can not remember the exact date.   Upon reviewing the installed programs within Control Panel, I do however see HP Deskjet 2540 series Basic Device Software,  HP Deskjet 2540 series Help, and several other installed HP programs.  The most recent installed date I see is 5/3/15.   If the names of the other HP programs listed are needed, they will be furnished upon request.

At this point, should I simply uninstall all references of HP within Control Panel and use the link of and start over?

Keep in mind that you may have other HP software installed besides the software for your Deskjet 2543, so be careful.

Yes, with the caveat above, install the "Full Feature Software and Drivers" package updated 26-Jun-2015, since that is later than your 3-May-2015 date. Regards, Joe

Thank you so much : - )  I now have the HP software and utilities within my Apps list.  At this point, I wish to take the HP Deskjet 2540 series icon which contains all of the maintenance utilities and put it onto my Windows 10 desktop for easier access and use.  Whenever I right click on it, I do not see an option of Copy to Desktop.  Can you possibly help me with that part?

That's great news, George!

> Can you possibly help me with that part?

Sure — here you go:

Open file location
Create shortcut

It will say this:

desktop shortcut
Click Yes and you'll have a shortcut on the desktop.

Here's a second method that also works:

Open file location
Click anywhere on desktop, then Ctrl-V (Paste)
