domain suffix webpage development

I am having problems getting cool domain names.  They all seem to be taken.  If I start to use the domain suffix .net or .tv to keep a cool name, what problems can I expect?  Or does it really matter in terms of SEO?

I am going to be produce how to videos and video content but the domain I like is already taken with no website for it by some web content company based out of Taiwan.
Are you asking whether you can just start using the domain name you like, despite it being taken?  Or are you asking whether getting a domain name under a different TLD (final suffix) will affect your ability to be found by search engines?

Assuming you realize you can't use a domain name you don't own (the DNS delegation for that name will not point to your nameservers and content), I don't think it makes any difference whether your domain is under .tv or .me or .net or anything else, in terms of being found by search engines.
