SBS2011 migration to Office 365

Hi all,

1.      We have SBS2011 (Exch 2010), now planning to migrate to Office 365- around 13-15 mailboxes. Total database size around 40GB. What would be the best option to migrate into Office 365, previously with less users we did manual process by uploading the old emails export/import via Outlook. Also there’s contacts in public folder that need to be migrated.

2.      We are also planning to migrate the office data into cloud, we have 7-8 shared folders in server and mapped with local drives. Data size 180GB approx. I am not sure if OneDrive can support this requirements.

3.      Is ADSL upload is enough which is only 0.70-0.80Mbps

Thanks
Joyjohn

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I'd recommend using BitTitan's MigrationWiz. It's like $13/user, but it migrates all their Exchange data from the old mailbox to the new one and makes your life a lot easier. Your upload speed is going to make this a very long process, so start the first pass of migrating emails at least a week ahead of time.

For moving all your data to the cloud, you agonize over that kind of upload speed.   If faster speed is available, get it....any reason you want to pay the money every month for O365 and storage when you already have all that on site?

You should be looking at Azure rather than One Drive

BitTitan's MigrationWiz works well so its worth a look.  I'm actually doing a migration with it now.

Your other option would be to export and import PST files which is a pain.

I would agree with the upload speed comments.  If its poor its going to take you some time to complete.

'Stellar mailbox extractor for Exchange Server' is also a good alternate to export large sizes of mailboxes to Office 365 without converting into pst format.
