SQL statement - creating a view

I am trying to create a SQL view and keep getting the error message: Msg 111, Level 15, State 1, Line 8
'CREATE VIEW' must be the first statement in a query batch.

Here is the SQL statement.  It runs fine without the "create view" statement

-- Open transactions

declare @segnumstr varchar(3)
declare @statement varchar(3333)

select @segnumstr=SGMTNUMB from SY00300 where SGMTNAME in (select BSSI_Facility_Segment from B3900100)
select @statement=
'select SUM(DEBITAMT-CRDTAMNT), G.OPENYEAR, G.JRNENTRY, min(G.REFRENCE), G.TRXDATE, A.ACTNUMBR_' + @segnumstr + ' ' +
'from GL20000 G ' +
'inner join B3940200 B on G.JRNENTRY=B.JRNENTRY and G.OPENYEAR=B.OPENYEAR ' +
'inner join GL00100 A on A.ACTINDX=G.ACTINDX ' +
'where A.ACCTTYPE=1 ' +
'group by G.OPENYEAR, G.JRNENTRY, G.TRXDATE, A.ACTNUMBR_' + @segnumstr + ' ' +
'having SUM(DEBITAMT-CRDTAMNT)<>0 ' +
'order by TRXDATE '
exec (@statement)

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

A view supports only SELECT statements, you cant have DECLARE or EXEC statement in a view.
You probably should consider a stored procedure
