Outlook 2010 GoDaddy IMAP incoming mail issues

Hey all,

I have a client that uses GoDaddy IMAP email accounts (I know...) with Outlook 2010 client (updated to SP2) on Win 7 pro.  Have a new user that was just setup, and for some odd reason new emails do not deliver to Outlook when they come into the account (I can see them in webmail).  After a long (up to two hours) delay they eventually make it to the Inbox in Outlook.  The only way to push them along (send/receive does nothing) is to close out of Outlook and re-open, at which time the new messages come right in.

I have absolutely no idea what to look at. The wonderful folks at GoDaddy support suggested I google it...

I could have written the same question last week.  Spoke with Godaddy support and they suggested what I ultimately decided.  Get rid of IMAP and move to Office365 which by the way I am dissatisfied.  I really believe they are not good with IMAP and are trying to retire it.

Godaddy IMAP seems to be a problem with refreshing outlook inbox.  I believe it is their infrastructure but have no way to prove it out.  Is it possible that their mailbox is too large? just a thought.

PS......I also believe that their IMAP is the total of all IMAP storage and not just the single mailbox size that causes the problem.

Their O365 product makes no sense, it is twice as expensive as just getting it directly through Microsoft.  This is the last client I have using anything to do with GoDaddy email, but they are stuck there for a bit for various reasons that are out of my control.  You may be right about the IMAP storage issue.

One other thing I noticed last night, when I click on Calendar or Contacts in Outlook and go back into Mail, it connects and syncs the new messages. So strange and annoying.

Update: Upgrade to Outlook 2013 resolved the issue, mail now delivered upon hitting the server. Must be an issue between Outlook 2010 and the GoDaddy imap server. Not resolved, but no longer an issue.
