Getting VSS Error with Dell Appassure

Getting an error on one of my server says there was a problem with the VSS subsystem. I checked the VSS writers on the server and none of them say fail. When I Force a Snapshot it completes no problem.
I am running windows 2003 on this server. I know its old and currently in process of migrating data to 2012 server but need this one alive til I can find the time to do it. Any thoughts?
