Upgrade SCCM 2012 to Latest Version / Remote Distribution Points

We are in the process of planning to upgrade from SCCM 2012 to the latest version.  The biggest question, is with our remote distribution points (which we have 9 of).  Currently each DP has around 60GB of SCCM packages, does that all get resent from the main server?   Haven't been able to find much information how DP's are handled with the upgrade process.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hi,

DPs are left alone during upgrades, so no, packages are not resent. Your boot.wim (for OSD) needs to be re-compiled though, so that will end up being resent. Your boot.wim only ought to be 300MB though. Any bigger and you've got too much in it (drivers or features).

In any update all roles are removed (automatically) and then re-added, except for the DP.
