VMWARE has trunk port ?

Hi, Expert

Here are two questions about vmware:
1, vmware( workstation or esx) has trunk port ? or can be configured as trunk ?
2, usually one port in vmware have one vlan, do you think the vlan number can match the vlan of Cisco switch ?

Thank you

Yes, it can.  I have ESXi environment created where are 4 ethernet ports configured as trunk.  Nic 1 is configured for management and is backup for vmotion, Nic 2 is primary for vMotion and backup, Nics 3 and 4 are teamed and are used for VMs.  The teamed Nics are configured as a distributed switch and is configured to allow about 6 vlans.  I am using vmxnet3 nics in VMs and I am tagging the vlan ID on the nic inside the vm.  For some VMs where I cannot tag the OS or are appliances, I have created port group with appropriate VLAN ID assigned.

Well I'm going to ignore VMware Workstation, it's a desktop product.

VMware vSphere (ESXi) can be configured to use more than a single nic, e.g. trunk ports.

VLANS can be used with VMware vSphere, if you tag the virtual machine portgroups correctly, that match rhe physical switch.

Hi All!
i configured teaming for 4 NIC in vmware(no NIC for failover). But i downloaded and uploaded a file to my ESXi, the load balancing job is not correct. i see just 1 or 2 NIC load data.
Finally i create a vsphere Distribute switch in Vcenter for 4 NIC. everything has worked perfect.
Did VMWare support for cloud suite be better than datacenter suite?
