VMWare Virtual Machine going through a constant loop

Hi all.
Running vSphere 6. Have a virtual machine that was backed up by Veeam this AM.
Post backup we get an error "virtual machine disk consolidation failed", followed by "Create virtual machine snapshot" thenremove snap shot, then it tries to consolidation again and around it goes.
Any ideas anyone as to how to resolve this?

Thank you

Remove from the Backup Job.

Turn off the VM.

Send me screenshots of the VM folder, I'll have a look and and we can proceed.

ASKER

Hi Andrew. Nice to hear from you. I can't power is down. When I right-click all options are greyed out.
When i try to view the source fiels in the data store it won't show me the files so that i can check for activity. All i get is a list of dots that keeps getting longer like this:
.............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
Scratch that. Can see source files now:)
It shows numerous snap shot files, you know the 00001.vmdk through to 00004
Hi.  So the vm time stamp on teh files hasn't changed now for almost 2 hours but still vSphere shows the 99% status.
Hi. So now it has mmoved on to Consolidation. Currently at 83% but if as before I suspect it will crash out and the process will begin again.

I see a number of forum posting out there regarding Veeam and slow snapshot removal.

What type of storage are you using? How large are on the disk on the VM? As Hancock mentioned with snapshot you need patience....
Rights as always Andrew. Came in to the office on Friday morning and Boom! Consolidation complete and VM running as it should be. Thanks again.
