HA Testing in VMware

1. Is there any way I can Test OR   Confirm that HA will definitely work in vSphere  5.5,  before I  manually do it.
2. Are there any specific  Tools (even Third Party) available to confirm this.

I require this  since some maintenance tasks need to be performed on the  ESXi Hosts.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

No you can't test HA unless you have an outage of one of the hosts.  Just be sure your other hosts have enough memory and CPU to handle the load before removing one.

This is simple

Move all Production Virtual Machines to another host. Create a virtual machine for test purposes on the host to be tested.

VMware HA - needs an uncontrolled failure!

VMs will be restarted on other available hosts in the cluster, within 1-2mins.

if they do not, HA has failed

I had seen Andrew's   advise ONLY after I had given  JeffMatthias the full marks.  When you see only one answer posted, I as the requestor get a feeling that, that is the ONLY answer!   I guess I should have waited for some more time.   If possible you may give Andrew 350 points and  JeffMatthais 150 points please.  Thanks.
You can't test HA without actually forcing HA.  That is what I meant and it still holds true.  You can't test HA you have to just create a failover event by removing a NIC or shutting down one of the host.

Technically it can't be TESTED until you actually do it.
