On the Windows 7 logon screen I am unable to logon with my user account and administrator account

I have a end user that has a Samsung Slate 7 series tablet with Windows 7 OS and he is having an issue logging onto his computer from the Windows logon screen. When he clicks his username the screen goes black than goes back to the logon screen. It doesn't get him to enter his password. He tried the click on the Administrator account and the same thing happens. It seems like a really strange problem and I am not sure what troubleshooting could possibly fix this problem. I had him go to safe mode but again when he clicks on his username the screen goes black and then comes back to logon screen so he is never able to enter his password. Has anyone else had this problem before and if so what do you do to fix the problem? Thanks in advance for your help.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. I am having the same issue with some tablets at work. It seems to be something from Windows Update yesterday, but I still have not figured out what yet.

I found this from another post. Uninstall Windows update KB3097877. I was able to remote desktop in and uninstall the update.

Ok unfortunately klh5246 you are having the same issue as I am having. Very frustrating when a Windows Update which is suppose to improve the OS ends up doing the opposite and now I have end user who can't work because of it.  Does anyone know if it is a windows update and if so how can this be fixed?

klh5246 how do you uninstall the update if I can't log onto his tablet?
klh5246IT ManagerCommented:
I have a patch utility that allows me to connect via remote desktop. Once connected via remote desktop I was able to uninstall the update.

You can always try something like this to enable remote desktop if it is not already enabled.

I have teamviewer and I was able to remote onto his tablet. I also tried clicking on his user icon and I had the same issue he was having where the screen would go quickly black and then come back to the log on screen and never allowed me to enter a password. I read somewhere that you need to disable the touchscreen in BIOS. Maybe that is something I need to try. Thanks for your help klh5246......I feel I am moving forward on this issue.

Sounds like we are having the same problem, have 80 stand-alone Panasonic Tough Books  model FZ-G1 with touchscreen. After 11/10/15 Microsoft updates. Select any user icon, reverts to user icon screen, same with safe mode, safe mode with networking, safe mode command prompt - all revert to user icon screen.  Trying to figure out how to turn off touch screen in the BIOS, no luck on that so far.
