How can I browse the C drive of a virtual machine from my desk

This is little strange to ask but I have a host running Hyper-v 2012 r2 and sometimes I want to browse to the c drive of the host to delete some files or folders and I am not sure how to do it.

Right I have to RDP to the server and do it from the command prompt. Is there a better way.

Thanks,

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You could try to use UNC.  //nameofvm/c:

This requires the VM to be turned on and running.  Some permissions issues may initially need to be addressed to.

Can you do:

dir \\MachineName\c$

or

dir \\IP_Address_of_Machine\c$

If you're an admin on that machine, and you connect to it with admin credentials, you should be able to.

You would do it EXACTLY the same way you would with a physical machine.  How would you do it with a physical system?
