Excel 2010 format

I am using Excel 2010 and have multiple rows containing the date and time merged together in one column.
I am trying to split the date and time to separate cells and also change the format of the date to mm/dd/yyyy and time to
hh:mm AM / PM but having some challenge.   Any info is greatly appreciated.
Below are sample values *note the space between date and time, but the time values do not have a consistent number of characters*

if date time is in A1 have you tried
for b1 =LEFT(A1,FIND(" ",A1)-1)   date
c1 =RIGHT(A1,FIND(" ",A1)+1) time

you can use the datevalue and timevalue functions and format the columns accordingly

Thanks for the info.  I was having trouble with the formulas. So I am saving as a sample file (uploaded) in both .xlsx and .xls version.  The values start in cell A2, I did change the formulas but was still getting an error.
as the values are consistent you just need to use =Datevalue and =timevalue and change the formatting to what you want. Example attached

Due to the way date/times are stored as Double, you can use the below functions to separate the date and time. You can then format as desired.

Date = INT(A2)
Time = MOD(A2, 1)

See the attached workbook for an example.
