Sql installation TCP ports

I installed a Named SQl instance which does not support Dynamic Ports.   Trying to determine other TCP Ports available and that can be safely used for the named instance.  Default port is already in use by the default instance.  Inputs appreciated.  OS Windows server 2012 r2

you can use either telnet or portQry.exe
query the port and if it listens its in use

I usually put some port greater than 5000

Hi,

I usually let it select a port dynamically. Then check that it is working and all is well etc. Then fix that port that SQL has chosen.

Here in this article you can find the reserved port number but basically what it says is:
System Ports (0-1023),
User Ports (1024-49151),
Dynamic/Private Ports (49152-65535)
