How to shut down my Windows 10 PC

I have been trying to make my PC close all programs and shut around 24:00.   I have been working with Task Scheduler but so far nothing happens.

Any ideas?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

What did you do in task scheduler?

Let it start
shutdown -f -s -t 0
at 24:00

What account do you use to start the task? Simply take "system"

Use basic task
shutdown in program field and
the "-f -s -t 0" in argument field.
