OfficeJet 7680 making loud noise when feeding paper

My HP OfficeJet L7680 prints with good quality, but it has started making a loud, clacking sound whenever the paper is advancing.  I'd like to preserve the printer if possible, because it functions well aside from the annoying sound.

After weeks/months/years (sometimes) of feeding paper without cleaning the printer, fibers and other fun things can build up in the gears and inter-workings of the printer. Take a can of compressed air and blow the internals clean with the air and see if that resolves the issue. There may also

Sometimes, depending on use, a printer wears out certain gears, belts, etc... I would also check that the feed path is clear of any paper scraps and that the gears are still on track.

Thank you for your comment.  Compressed air did not resolve the issue.  I can't see any scraps of paper in the feed path, and the paper appears to feed without obstruction.  The sound accompanies every line advance during printing.   The only time I have cleaned the printer is every few years, when replacing print heads.
