Facebook Private Message

How do I send a private message to a person on Facebook?

I found this (in a lot of places)

Go to the Page you want to message
Click Message on the Page's cover photo
Type in your message and click Send

I have NO CLUE what this means. "Go to the page you want to message?". I want to message a person, not a page.  "Click Message on the Page's cover photo". See attached. There is no message on the "cover photo" (whatever "cover photo" means).

I want to send a PRIVATE message to the person on the attached (Ted Homme).

How do I do that?

Facebook is HORRIBLY confusing

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

If you want to send a private message to someone on Facebook, here is an easy way:

Go to their page...

Translation: Go to their profile on Facebook. This can be done by clicking their name in your timeline or by typing their name in the search bar at the top of the page and clicking on them in the results.

Click Message on the Page's cover photo...

Translation: Look at their profile image, (the big picture near the top of their page, may not be a picture of them as it's not a requirement to have their picture as the image. Just make sure it's their profile)
Look for a Blue button that says Message on it. ( if the button is not there, they have privacy settings in place that prevent being messaged from people that aren't their friends)

Type in your message and click Send...

Translation: If you are on a computer, a small box will pop-up in the lower right corner of the screen. Type the message you want to send to them and click the Send button.

That's all there is to sending a message on Facebook.

If they are on your friends list: There is usually an envelope icon on the screen. Click this and choose you want to set a new message. Pick the person you want.

I have no way of knowing if it worked; hope it did.

If you sent it using the process I noted then it more than likely did work. I would never say it will work, it did work or definitely did as that's a no-no in IT.
