Can not open file in the server or laptop

Hi Experts,

I have long file path + long file names in the network share and now we are having issues with users not able to open picture. We get the issue show in the pic.

I am not sure what can be done to avoid the problem. The funny thing is that I login to the server as domain admin and I go to the share folder and tried to right click on the pic to rename it but I do not get the option. I also do not get the copy option also.

The file server is windows server 2003 R2. Is there a way to make the server ignore long file names? or any fix will be highly appreciated.

The long file name problem includes the entire path, including every directory above it... You could try to shorten the names of some of the higher folders
