Dell PowerEdge R320 Server Drives

Looking for information:

We have a new Dell PowerEdge R320 Rack Server.  We want to install new drives but we would like to use drives other than the Dell Drives if possible (On A Budget).  Has anyone had any experience with WDV RE4 drives?  The unit has a PERC H310/710 Controller.  We wanted to use 4TB Drives.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

You shouldn't have any problems using the WD RE4 drives in your Poweredge.

All my Dell Servers (similar models) are running WD RE or Reds without issues.

The latest RE drives have not been tested by WD on Dell controllers (that I have seen). The older RE4's were tested by WD on the Dell PERC's.

I would recommend purchasing Dell drives, just not directly from Dell:

If you choose generic/retail WD drives though, stick to enterprise-level drives like the RE and avoid the NAS and low-power disks like the Red and Green.
