External website not accessible internally

Have an issue where internal windows domain is the same name as the external. When trying to access www.website.com (website is just an example) externally, it is OK. When trying to access internally get a 404 webpage cannot be found. Where this is different from the typical "same name" scenario is that the website, which is hosted by another company is configured to strip the www so that you get redirected to website.com (for SEO purposes). Also the IP address is not static. So setting up a www A record in internal DNS won't work (We've tried). Also tried a conditional forwarder with no luck. Any other ideas?

Would like to avoid renaming the internal domain if possible as they have a Exchange server.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Unfortunately for you, utilizing just the "domain.com" part of the FQDN (stripping off the "www") just exacerbates the problem of using the same domain for both internal and external.  If you can't get to the site using www.domain.com (having created the www record internally), you're pretty much up a creek.  I don't see any option but to migrate to a new domain internally.
