Remove Dead DC

I have just inherited a client who has a SBS 2011 server. The server has exchange 2010 SP1. I intended to install SP3 but ran into issues which showed me that from running dcdiag there was sync issues with a now non existent DC.
Obviously I cant run dcpromo as the  server is not here.

I can see the server listed under the OU group Servers, but surprisingly not Domain controllers?

i have run netdom query fsmo and can see all roles are on the on the remaining DC not this old DC

I have also been into active directory sites and services and can see the old server listed under servers.

So in short how do i remove this so dcdiag will pass all tests

Before you start ripping the server out of AD or ADsiedit make sure that the server you saw in group servers is not functioning as a member server.  If it is not in use at all delete it from Active Directory.  Then go in to Adsiedit and delete any mentions of it there.  Go in to your DNS, forward and reverse lookups and find any entries of it in there and delete as well.
Click on the properties of that server object and go to Attribute Editor tab. Select UserAccountControl click edit, you'll see 532480 and replace with 4096. this will make server as member server and will remove it from DC list. Hope this helps
