large monitor for older person

Hello, does anyone have any recommendations for a larger monitor (e.g. 28") that works well with Larger settings so the text and display is easy to read for an older person?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You should be able to set the monitor in native mode (resolution) and any monitor can do this. Then you can change the text size of icons and message windows in the Display Settings. I always make text bigger.

Also, and with respect, make sure the "old" person has a vision shortcoming. I use progressive focus glasses and can read my 11-inch screen very well. Of course, then, I can also use larger monitors with ease.

Would be best if you can drop the resolution to an integral of the native resolution. Otherwise the screen will get a little blurry.

A monitor with a 1600x1200 native resolution will display an 800x600 image very clearly, each display pixel will map cleanly to 4 physical ones, as will 2560 x 1600 running 1280 x 800.

Great, thank you for your answers.  I typically do this but didn't know if there were some other tricks.
