Outlook 2013 marking emails as read even when they are not read

I have two users that have noticed these symptoms...  When reading an email lets say 20 down from the 2nd email the 2nd email is marked read when reading the 20th email.  This being the inbox...  So... Emails are being marked as read when reading other emails...  You read email A but email B is also marked as read...  It's very random and the position of the email is random too...  It could be the 3rd email marked as read when reading the 10th email...  Any ideas?  The email clients are connected to Exchange 2010.

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Does it happen if Outlook is closed and your reading on Webmail ?
If you have ActiveSync check how many devices are associated and if try to push off and check
Also not sure if your tried with recreation of Outlook profile

It only happens when Outlook is open.  They do not have any other devices.  It happened on their old profile and new one. Even on new desktop.   But.. It's been a few months since we last noticed it.  Only one person experienced the symptoms recently.  It was after a power outage.  Maybe corrupt profile?

2 things could be Corrupted Outlook profile or you can even move mailbox in that case to fix all logical corruption in case you face again

I reviewed some old tickets and it seems I re-created the profile in the past and the symptoms went away for months... Like 4-6 months..  I also looked at the date/time stamps and power outages occurred around these times which could easily cause corrupt profiles.  I'm rebuilding profiles this weekend..  This seems to be the fix.
