Remote Desktop freezing
I have a terminal service server that has no more than 9 people on it at a time. The connect using a WYSE V10L. The issue is that they log in just fine, but the session keeps freezing every 45 minutes to and hour. I have 3 different offices going to the same server and they all experience the freezing issue so I know it is not their internet connection. I have changed the RDP Compression settings to Balances memory and network bandwidth. Any help in this matter would be great. System info is below. Thank you
1. Logon to the Remote Desktop Services Session Host computer as an administrator
2. Start--Run gpedit.msc
3. In the left pane, under Computer Configuration, navigate to following:
Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Remote Desktop Services\Remote Desktop Session Host\Remote Session Environment
4. In the right pane, double-click on Set compression algorithm for RDP data
5. Select Enabled, and choose Balances memory and network bandwidth
6. Click OK to save the change

Have you checked their session timeout settings?
ASKER
To fix the problem the user has to hard shutdown the thin client. i will try an hook one up an see if it freezes. we can not install the Windows 7 os on the server because it will not allow more that 1 user to remote in at a ti.e. let me test the thin client
ASKER
@Davis i have not checked the session ti e out settings. where do i find those?
No, I meant replacing one of the thin clients with a Windows 7 system and test if the RDP session freezes as well.
RDP Session Timeout settings: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc754272.aspx
as explained by mpfister ...
try a Windows System as Client.
possible the thin-client Management kill the System.

Have you put on the recommended fixes for it? This is a Citrix article, but it references several Microsoft hotfixes that are important for a 2008R2 RDS box.
I have eliminated freezing on several boxes by installing these.
