asked on
flow control and nic teaming.
have an issue with cisco switch and new server with broadcom nic card .
This card has 4-ports, I took one port from here and another three ports from another cards (10GB logic and onborad LOM).
Some reason the one port from this card shows as disconnected. I moved the cable to another port in this same card same issue.
But if i connect mgmt, motion cable to this port then they work.
Tech from network suggest me to look at the floor control at esxi, Can this be an issue with broadcom driver?

Most likely your cable has half of wires cut and it does not work with gigabit.
Maybe it is from lowcost 2-pair cables that some desktop/laptop vendors wrapped in the boxes for free.

ASKER
I had to move the cables to another ports, not sure why it does not work.

If I were you I'd try verifying the ports status with a link tester or maybe another pc/laptop. Make sure to mark the port in some fashion so as to avoid it in the future.
ESXi version
0. faujlty nic

2. firmware
3. port speed
4. duplex settings
5. network cable
6. faulty port
I'm doubtful, flow control, will affect a physical port as down!
