SSRS Report file does not open in design mode in BIDS 2008

My old laptop crashed. I have to migrate everything to a new one. Everything seems to be working fine, except some rdl reports are opening only in xml mode. I tried copying every thing in new folder, start new Report project, adding the troubled report again. Also tried explicitly opening it design mode. Nothing works. Please help. What surprise me that only some reports behave like this, some are fine.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I was able to solve the issue. The problem was that might install 2008 BIDS first. I removed it and properly installed BIDS 2008 R2. Everything is back to normal! Finally i can go back to that troubled 2008 R2 report and fix it. Boss is waiting...
