Multiple monitors on laptop

I have a Lenovo ThinkPad T420 and dock with two DVI and VGA output, which runs my three Dell U2412 monitors just fine.  The U2412 supports DP, DVI, and VGA.

But now that I want to upgrade to a T450 with Win7P, Lenovo is telling me that none of their docks support three monitors, and that the only way to run three monitors is to go to a W541Thinkpad with their 170W dock.  There are several disadvantages to going with the W541, so my question is this: Is there some type of adapter I can connect to a DVI or DP port on a basic T450 dock that will give me 1600 x 900 output for three monitors?  Note that I "extend" them as though they were one wide monitor.  TIA

Anything that connects to the DVI or DP port will give you the same image on all monitors.  I'd look at a USB-Video adapter such as this one:

A possible option could be a DP to dual DVI adapter combined with a USB dock (ThinkPad USB 3.0 Pro Dock) that has a DVI as well. That way you have 3 DVI ports, you could get Lenovo's confirmation that such a setup would work before you buy anything.
