what is the meaning of a Active Directory group starting with * or !

When I login to Active Directory I see there are some groups having same name but it starts with a special character. e.g

I would like to know which case we use these special character. Is it a distribution list or a group ?

Ask whoever created them.  I've never seen AD create groups like this and they're not built in groups... someone in your organization must have created them.

Any kind of "marking" in AD is done with attributes. Whatever you see as names are just that, and created that way, as Lee started correctly.

If a user exist with the name TeamB so you cannot create a new group with name TeamB, that's why someone add '*' before TeamB.
its just a Name of a group/user.
