Need directions to share .docx in Dropbox

Hi techs,
I am trying to simply get a shopping list to share btwn my Note 4 and my wife's iphone 6.  We’ve both have dropbox installed.  I created a document in my application sent my wife the link to the document and when she updates the document and then saves the changes I don’t see the changes on my side.  I need help trying to figure out how to get this basic shopping list shared between our phones so that when somebody go shopping and buy something on the list they cross it off and the next person won’t also buy it.

Any assistance is appreciated.

Thank you,

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Dropbox is better for sharing files, but for sharing and editing documents at the same time, I would recommend google docs. In there you can even both edit the same document at the same time.

Hope it helps. Regards.

THe best thing is to create a SHARED folder in Dropbox .. put the files in there and send the link to the SHARED FOLDER to your wife's dropbox.  Then if you edit the file .. the amendments will be copied to her version and vice versa.  Sending a link to a file works a bit differently as in effect it will COPY the file into her dropbox but it will not be the same instance of the file you are editing.

A shared dropbox folder is the way to go .. OR of course you could use Google Docs

right-click on a folder name on your computer and choose --> Share with >

if you signin to the Dropbox website, hover (not click) on the folder and choose --> Invite people to collaborate
