I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I would not bother. Just uninstall KB3035583 and GWX will be gone.

Remember to hide it after, in Windows Update.

John Hurst--
Does that Registry fix disable obtaining all Windows Updates (or all OS Updates) or only Win10?
JohnBusiness Consultant (Owner)Commented:
Just the Windows 10 upgrade. I have done Windows 7 updates since I posted this.

Uninstalling  KB3035583  as already posted works very well also, although it needs to be monitored and remain hidden.
John Hurst--
Thanks for the prompt reply.
I have used it and also the Win 10 Troubleshooter mentioned here.

And uninstalled  KB3035583
Nothing like belt and suspenders.
I was offered 20 Windows/Office Updates today.  Win 10 was not one.
So using the Registry fix provided by John Hurst does not block all Windows Updates.

When time came to install up popped a screen showing Win 10 was being installed !! I cancelled that, but it is possible that screen had cancelled itself just before.
I went back to Windows Update and this time Windows Update proceeded normally without Win10.
JohnBusiness Consultant (Owner)Commented:
You can uninstall KB3035583, restart, then hide it and that will stop Windows 10 - not other updates.
David Johnson, CD, MVPOwnerCommented:
Microsoft has become more aggressive with the Windows 10 installation. Use the GWX control panel this will stop GWX (get windows 10) in its tracks.
Thanks for the two comments immediately above.

Please note I was not asking a question, but rather reporting my success in avoiding an install of Win 10 by using the procedures offered earlier in this thread.
