I'm not sure I fully understand your question but Outlook Anywhere formerly known as RPC over HTTP or in most cases I would hope RPC over HTTPS started as a replacement for VPN users connecting remote. &nbsp;So if your users are &quot;remote&quot; and do not have VPN you would have to enable Outlook Anywhere and it would need to be enabled on your Exchange server.<br />

It is not uncommon to use this now internally as well along with &quot;autodiscover&quot;.<br />

First You should check the system requirements &nbsp;for configuring it with exchange 2003<br />
below steps can help you.<br />

1. First Configure an Exchange Server 2003 back-end server as an RPC proxy server and then Configure the RPC virtual directory for Basic authentication and SSL<br />
2. Now Configure the RPC proxy server to use specified ports for RPC over HTTP &amp;&nbsp;Set the NT Directory Services (NTDS) port on all global catalog servers that act as Exchange Server 2003 back-end servers<br />
3. Then Create a Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 Profile for your users to use with RPC over HTTPS<br />
4. Test the Connection

Currently, i have problem on setting up Outlook 2007 to my Exchange server<br />

We have one Window 2003 with Exchange server 2003 installed on it.<br />
<br />
Exchange server name : server.abc.com<br />
public name : mail.abc.com<br />
<br />
If I put the server.abc.com under Microsoft Exchange setttings, the user name can't be resolved successfully.<br />
<br />
However, if I put the server.abc.com in Microsoft Exchange settings, it can be resolved, but it change to server.abc.com again. This is strange to me as the name can be accepted if I manually type on it.<br />
<br />
Under Proxy settings,<br />
for connnection settings, I put server.abc.com<br />
<br />
Connect using SSL, I put msstd:mail.abc.com<br />
<br />
However, it never works outside the LAN.<br />

Any idea ?<br />

You basically need to setup external autodiscover.<br />

There is not a lot of difference between Exchange 2003, 2007, 2010 from this perspective.<br />

It changes drastically if you migrate to Office 365 but the Technet article above would help you get the right DNS records in External DNS.<br />

For example, I don't think you mentioned CAS server. &nbsp;Is that setup? High level:<br />
1. CAS server configured<br />
2. Outlook Anywhere has already been published to the Internet.<br />
3. Outlook Web App (OWA) has already been published to the Internet.<br />
4. OWA is published to the URL: <a href="https://mail.company.com/owa" rel="ugc">https://mail.company.com/owa</a><br />

With that said, last time I worked with Exchange 2003 was a mass migration to Office 365 I performed.<br />

Now I use Outlook 2016 and Office 365 with Azure any opportunity I can.
