On the client we use the native COM port.

Performance problem with redirect serial port on Win2012-R2 server.<br />

Our application is installed on Win2012-R2 server.<br />
We start from Win7-client a remote desktop session.<br />

Application has to sends data to a device over the serial port.<br />
Device is connected to the serial port on the client machine.<br />
The serail port is redirected from server to client (see screenshot).<br />

The redirection of the serial port to the client machine works but is very slowly.<br />
A request/response takes up to 3 seconds.<br />
<br />
Similar configuration with Win208-R2 server works properly. <br />
In this configuration takes a request/response appr. 100 miliseconds.<br />
<br />
Do you have any idea what could cause this Problem ?<br />

Performance problem with redirect serial port on Win2012-R2 server.

Our application is installed on Win2012-R2 server.
We start from Win7-client a remote desktop session.

Application has to sends data to a device over the serial port.
Device is connected to the serial port on the client machine.
The serail port is redirected from server to client (see screenshot).

The redirection of the serial port to the client machine works but is very slowly.
A request/response takes up to 3 seconds.

Similar configuration with Win208-R2 server works properly. 
In this configuration takes a request/response appr. 100 miliseconds.

Do you have any idea what could cause this Problem ?

Performance problem with serial port on Win2012-R2 server

A server is a computer program or a machine that waits for requests from other machines or software (clients) and responds to them. This architecture is called the client–server model. The clients may run on the same computer or may connect to the server over a network. The purpose of a server is to share data or hardware and software resources among clients. Typical computing servers are database servers, file servers, mail servers, print servers, web servers, game servers, and application servers.

Server Software

Windows Server 2012 is the server version of Windows 8 and the successor to Windows Server 2008 R2. Windows Server 2012 is the first version of Windows Server to have no support for Itanium-based computers since Windows NT 4.0. Windows Server 2012, now in its second release (Windows Server 2012 Release 2) includes Foundation, Essentials, Standard and Datacenter, and does not support IA-32 or IA-64 processors.

Windows Server 2012

Servers are computing devices that are similar to desktop computers in that they have the same basic components, but are significantly different in size, configuration and purpose. Servers are usually accessed over a network, and many run unattended, without a computer monitor, input device, audio hardware or USB interfaces. Many servers do not have a graphical user interface (GUI), and are configured and managed remotely. Servers typically include hardware redundancy such as dual power supplies, RAID disk systems, and ECC memory, along with extensive pre-boot memory testing and verification. Critical components might be hot swappable, and to guard against overheating, servers might have more powerful fans or use water cooling.
