Receiving Reserved Error -1524 when importing table into access database
Can anyone explain what causes this error and how to correct the situation. I'm trying to import a table into another database and consistently receive this error. I don't have this problem with other tables or components of the database such as reports, forms or queries.
I have run the compact and repair and this is enabled to run everytime the database is closed.

Is there a way to automatically set up compact and repair to run automatically when open? I only see the option to run it on close.
no, unfortunately ~
" Compact/Repair should be done when a database is opened"
??????
I'm afraid I cannot agree with that. I've been compacting closed dbs for 23 years, not to mention my nightly backup routine at work C&Rs some 45 *closed* backend dbs (done at the local work station level), and I have never ever had a failure.
On the flip side, I do not recommend Compact On Close.
Also ... the Accepted solution is not really a solution (Sorry Crystal) to the stated problem.

Hi Joe,

this is what I said ... just different words ~ compacting a closed db, of course, is ok too
... and I do agree that the actual problem was not addressed -- that was an auxilary comment

actually, choosing this option is a BAD idea! Compact/Repair should be done when a database is opened, right after it has been backed up.
Compact/Repair is a volatile process ... if it fails when the database is closed, you will lose the database and everything that was just entered.
