RAID Card RS3WC080 Will Not Start Code 10

HELP!

Originally got new to start upon installation and driver update but was running very warm. Waited 24HRs for the correct breakout cable to arrive and then it would not start after every driver update etc. Nothing. I sent it back to Amazon for exchange. New card doing exact same thing.

I got an HP Smart Array with mem onboard and bbu. Installing (fingers crossed)
I currently have server 2012R2 running on a single 3TB WD Red but the array will be comprised of one of the following:
(3) 2TB WD Red in RAID 5 with (1) 2TB WD Red hot spare
or
(4) 2TB WD Red in RAID 10

should I continue to run the OS off of the single 3TB and build a storage array or, knowing the dives that I have to work with, should I do it different.
The machine's primary role is a hyper-v host needing lots of storage for the guest servers

I'm so sick of screwing with these raid cards. Can you recommend a good card that is reasonable and supports raid 6?

Storage

Computer data storage, often called storage or memory, is a technology consisting of computer components and recording media used to retain digital data. In addition to local storage devices like CD and DVD readers, hard drives and flash drives, solid state drives can hold enormous amounts of data in a very small device. Cloud services and other new forms of remote storage also add to the capacity of devices and their ability to access more data without building additional data storage into a device.
