Forefront Protection for Exchange 2010 functionality after license expiration
Hello Experts,
We currently have ForeFront Protection for Exchange 2010 installed on our Exchange 2010 server. The license period, which MS extended, will expire on 12/31/2015. Our server has a history of some of the exchange services not starting correctly with a server restart and typically have to be started manually. Because of that, I am hesitant to uninstall FPE. We do have an email scanning gateway in place that to this point has been doing a good job of cleansing the incoming email.
My question is, does anyone have knowledge regarding the functionality of FPE at the end of the licensing period? I have been working to find information on this and have seen some suggestions that FPE will continue to process the email flow, but will not be able to obtain any further updates to its scanning engines. However, to this point I have not been able to find any definitive information on this. Can anyone provide solid, reliable information on what I can expect function-wise at the end of the licensing period?
Thanks in advance,
Russ
