on my TSGW Servers the NLB is installed for two nodes.
Is the load balancer really needed ?
I wanted to virtulize my servers TSGW1 and TSGW2.
I finished P2V with the TSGW2 but then the NLB is not working and some are also not coming up.
The TSGW2 is also an CAS/HUB for my EXCH server.
Is the NLB really needed ?

Unicast or Multicast, Multicast is recommended for VMware vSphere (ESXi).

so NLB is needed, when I have 2 separate HUB CAS server ?

Load Balancing is recommended, what platform you use, is up to you, Windows Network Load Balancing is one software method, compare to a hardware load balancer.
yes and this is strange.
The admin before me here in the company installed NLB on the TSGW servers.
But on our FORTIGATE firewall we also have LoadBalancer installed.
And I think one is enough right ?

Can I uninstall the NLB on my TSGW and use my FORTIGATE as LNB ?

If you have a hardware load balancer, I would recommend it, over NLB, especially hosted in VMware!
ok, in this case the NLB is for the TSGW farm.
It is set to UNICAST.
This TSGW farm is not on a VM.
Is it also recommended to put on my hardware balancer ?

Hardware Load Balancer's if you have purchased them, are better and easier managed and configure than NLB.
Choice is yours, if it works....why change it

the NLB of my TSGW is not working.
I have big problems with it.
When I ping my two TSGW server I get sometimes no PING.
And on this machines my HUB and CAS also installed.
I am not sure if they are also used with NLB.
What happens when I unistall the FEATURE NLB ?
What is worst case ?

You will no longer get any load balancing, but you will also probably have to change your DNS to point to a single server, as currently it will be a load balanced IP Address.

ok,
but I can configure my hardware load balancer , right ?
Can I use the hardware balancer also for TSGW and for SMTP ?
