Recover access of our iPad

For some reason we have misplaced a letter or a number of our iPad password; for the last 2 days had no success to go back in. Last week we had to loan our iPad or a colleague and instead of giving our long password we deleted for the time the iPad was being lent.

Now trying to regain our iPad again for our work, we can't get to access it. That said, couple questions:

- Is there a way to recover an iPad password?

- How can we reset the iPad and restore a recent backup we have? (We have a very recent backup and we can afford to reset the device)

First to all, we greatly appreciate that you've taken the time to extract the steps from your recommended link! Most of the time, when we receive a link from an EE with no summary, we have to go thru the entire data referred, which of course is no problem, but there are times that we have to go back and ask the EE to specify where in the link is the probable answer he/she identified; which in turn either we don't get a feedback from the EE or wait for another EE to jump in. Again thank you for that bit!
