Is there a reason why the server needs to be on the same Layer 2 domain as the wireless gear?<br />

To answer your question, although it is not an ideal situation I don't foresee you experiencing any issues with it. Just out of curiosity, where does the default gateway for VLAN997 reside?<br />

i need to add a wired server onto a vlan on my wireless network. currently i have the two segments connected via a layer 3 connection. I know i would need to add a layer2 connection to get the server on the vlan but im not sure what problems i would run into i have attached a diagram to help explain the scenario. <br />
