Dynamics over VPN performance, RDP redirection

Hi
We have client with two sites. Primary in CA, secondary in NC.
Sites are currently connected via VPN and we are using Sophos UTM.
When I ping resources at other sites, we get latency ~ 60ms.
When we open Microsoft Dynamics Nav 2013 it takes 30-40sec longer to open client and connect to server. Client does not ask for password ad its integrated with AD, so this 30-40 sec is including authentication and displaying main menu with some kind of graph
I did some monitoring and can see that each NAV cleint session takes 330-450kb of bandwidth. We have plenty bandwidth on each side.
So bandwidth and latency is not problem. If we run this on Terminal Server everything flies. I know that it is recommended to run on RDP but we have two buts.
1) I want to find out if this performance is normal for VPN across country.
2) I have multiple devices that are plugged in to desktop on remote site that use USB, Com port. (Printers, scanners, scales) and I do not think I can redirect them all. So I might end up running few PCs in shipping area without Terminal Server and need to know if I can achieve maximum performance over VPN.
3) what is the best 3rd party product to redirect USB and Com port components. We have Microsoft RDP 2012

No. pings of around 60ms is quite high and Dynamics will not like this.

Not really, Dynamics isn't really meant to be used in this way so you'll struggle to get it performing quickly in this environment unless you put in some huge internet lines with <10ms latency.

Its all tied to the client you connect with. if you are using RDP sessions you're pretty much stuck with the redirection facilities in RDP. these all increase the bandwidth usage of RDP though, and you may end up with the same problem in the end.

The RDP route certainly sounds like the right path to follow in your case, but you'll have to work out how to make it do what you want. multiple devices on site are likely to make that difficult due to the redirection requirements you've already mentioned.
