Backup Software for Virtual Machine Backup in Windows 2012R2 Hyper-V
Hi,
I have Virtual Machines in Windows 2012R2 Hyper-V and I need to backup these VMs.
I use NAKIVO backup software to backup VMs in VMWare environment and they work GREAT and affortable, unfortunately NAKIVO software does not work on Hyper-V.
I heard negative comments against using native Windows Server Backup. What are shortcomings with WSB?
If not WSB, what other backup software would you recommend?
I know VEEAM makes one, but they are too expensive and I am looking for functional and economical software.
Thanks.

I am going to try Altaro because their free version can backup two VMs with full functionality.

I tried Altaro and it is nice software. One-month trial ended, but you mentioned that I could use it for free as long as I backup up to 2 VMs. How can I adjust (license) settings so that I can use it for free while backing up two VMs?

Did you get a free edition key? You might email support for help.

Ok. I will email them to see if I can get a free edition key.

I will have three VMs in total. One VM is DC with user files and exchange data. Second VM is Terminal Server with Outlook client. Third VM is Windows 7 with specific client software with no user data. So what I need to backup daily is DC and TS. So Altaro may work as long as it allows file and folder restore.
