Yes i am moving to Exchange 2016 shortly. Just need to move to a bigger physical server.<br />

The bare metal restore has taken a little longer than anticipated so I will restore that, then within a couple of days backup and restore the database to the new server.<br />

Then I will worry about my exchange upgrade, <br />

If I restore exchange to another box (new server) and keep running the old one. &nbsp;(just using bare metal copy)<br />

Can I just then do a an exchange database backup and restore when I want to switch over to the new box? <br />
<br />
Any help would be great.<br />

Exchange backup/restore

The term "Backup" means the methods and processes involved to copy computer data (system data as well as application data) to media other than the ones where the data originally live (disk, tape, optical, cloud).
