Ipconfig display
I have the IP configuration below.
I know that 10.0.0.1 is the IP of my wireless Router, because I can access the Router web console using 10.0.0.1
I have installed Vmware Workstation and some Windows VMs
In the past I configured the Default Gateway for the VMs to be 192.168.80.2, and I am still able to connect to Internet from my VMs.
However I am trying to understand what makes my VMs be able to connect to Internet, since the Wireless router is in the 10.0.0.x subnet and the DG of the VMs is 192.168.80.2, which is the IP address of the WINS server in the displayed config below:
I also need someone to explain to me what are all the adapters and IPs displayed below and what they represent.
Thanks you

Correct, as defined by the VMware Internal DHCP Server on your VMware Workstation Virtual NAT Network.
and VMware Workstation NAT Network Links to > Production Network (IP 10.x.x.x.)
Did you read and visit the VMware Support Link I posted, which shows the difference between NAT, Host Only and Bridged?
Do you understand the fundamentals of NAT ?
because this is what happenes on your Production Network to your ISP, you are NATTed...
So basically, VMs are Doubled NATTED....
NAT1 (VMware Workstation) ---> NAT2 (Production 10.x.x.x) Network --> ISP

Andrew,
I understand the NATTing.
Vmware Workstation has kind of Virtual Router that NATs the Laptop IP subnet (10.x.x.x) to 192.168.80.x
What I wanted to understand is why the DG of all VMs inside VM Workstation is using an IP address of WINS server ?
Primary WINS Server . . . . . . . : 192.168.80.2

VMware Workstation does not have a virtual router, it has a virtual network, in NAT mode, using a vitual network interface.
Because that's what the virtual network editor, has been configured to provide those settings to VMs.
