connect sonicwall to cisco router
Hi experts, i have had a shdsl connection installed at my office connected to a cisco 600 series router.
How do i go about connecting my tz sonicwall to the cisco unit.
The ISP has given me the ip details below of the cisco router. (the details below are an example ip)
Can i just set the sonicwall up with a static wan ip connection to the cisco. Do i need to be issued a spare ip from the ISP for this?
so my sonicwall Wan connection might be:
WAN IP - 115.70.211.114
G/Way - 115.70.211.113 (cisco router)
Subnet - 255.255.255.254
ISP CISCO Unit.
WAN IP: 115.70.211.113
Gateway IP address:115.70.211.112
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.254
Primary DNS: 220.233.0.4
Secondary DNS: 220.233.0.0

that's usually how i would set it up so the sonicwall WAN port would have local IP in same subnet as LAN port on Cisco.
In other situations with /31 or /30 ip block range ive seen the sonciwall WAN port set with a public IP address not a local ip when connected to Cisco. Maybe this is used to have multiple public IP's on one connection.

I purchased an additional IP address and set this on the sonicwall WAN connection, connected to the CISCO LAN port.
Internet <- outside/WAN -> Cisco <- inside/LAN unprotected -> Sonic Wall <- inside/LAN protected ->
The WAN IP address is the address on the "outside/WAN" of the Cisco device. You need to know how the "inside/LAN" side is setup.
